Five Deliciously Simple Steps to Smoother School Mornings

Lunch school packing with Allens apple juice box

Juicy tips from mother of three, Stacey Kasdorf.

Stacey is no stranger to the school week morning rush. That’s why we asked her how she gets three kids out the door without breaking a sweat.

The secret? A lot of preparation. And a few juice boxes.

Getting three girls out the door for school is not easy! From eating breakfast, to picking outfits, to packing their bags we always seem to run short on time. I’m here to make school mornings easier for everyone this year with these five easy steps!

Prep lunch items the night before

I never pack lunch boxes the night before school as I want everything to be as fresh as possible. But I do prep ingredients to make it easier! Think a big batch of pasta, soup, muffins, cut-up veggies and fruit or Apple & Blueberry bread (that you can find on Allen’s recipe list!). Then I put their lunch boxes on the counter, ready to be packed. This means in the morning all I have to do is heat up the thermos portion, grab an Allen’s juice box and put everything else in the lunch kit.

Healthy, quick breakfasts

Prepping breakfast the night (or even the week) before is a huge help! My girls are mostly old enough to help themselves to breakfast, which is why things like egg bakes, overnight oats, frozen waffles and sausages are perfect. Allen’s has a tasty looking Apple, Asparagus and Ham Quiche that would be perfect to prepare ahead of time!

Laying out their clothes the night before

My girls have a hard time figuring out what to wear each day, so getting dressed usually takes up most of our time. We’re trying to fix this by laying their outfits out the night before. That way there will be no panicking if something they want to wear is in the laundry.

Having a Morning Checklist

We have a magnetic chore chart on our fridge with a short morning checklist. This way the girls know exactly what needs to get done! Things like brushing their teeth, brushing their hair, getting dressed, packing their backpack and making their bed! They check off each item once they’ve done it. It also helps keep them on track so I don’t have to watch over them as much!

Working Together

Some mornings one of us is running a bit more behind. If we chip in and help each other it makes everything more manageable. If the girls need a bit of extra time to eat their breakfast, I’ll help pack their backpacks. Or if my workout is running long, the girls will help pack their lunches, juice boxes and fill their water bottles. Teamwork is so necessary to get everyone out the door on time. Plus, it teaches them to work together!
